Activity info
Take a private half day tour to Pella, the ancient capital of the Macedonian Empire and native town of Alexander the Great.
After the pick up from your hotel, we will drive nortwest of Thessaloniki. Our first visit will be the archaeological site of Pella with the marvelous mosaics, made with small natural pebbles of various colours.
Our next visit will be the new Museum, opened in October 2009. It is situated at the southeast foot of the hill where the palace of the Macedonian dynasty was, northeast of the archaeological site. This museum gives you the chance to see interesting finding aged from the 4th Century BC, like the unique statuette of a horned Athena (apparently influenced by Minoan Crete), the statue of Alexander sprouting the horns of Pan, and the adorable sleeping Eros (Cupid).
