Hike through the ’’edge’’ and visit the Dana Lighthouse

Starting from our meeting point, we’ll make our way towards Mikro Neoreio, where we’ll embark on a scenic path that takes us to the less-traveled side of the island, leading us to the charming stone-built Dana Lighthouse. After a brief stop to admire the view, we’ll begin our return journey, passing by the serene beaches of Gerolimano and the historic Russian Naval Base. Here, we’ll take a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear waters before continuing along the road to Megalo Neoreio. Once there, we’ll settle in for a delicious lunch at the local Vasilis Tavern, before completing our journey back to the hotel.
The Dana Lighthouse, perched at the entrance of the Poros Channel, was constructed in 1870 by the French Society of Ottoman Lighthouses. It stands as one of Greece's most beautiful stone-built square lighthouses and is an important symbol of modern maritime history. Rising nine meters tall with a focal length of 32 meters, the lighthouse offers sweeping views over the Saronic Gulf.
In 2011, the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation fully restored the lighthouse, transforming it into a cultural landmark that highlights Greece’s rich maritime heritage. The lighthouse is located less than six kilometers from Poros Town and can be reached via a 15-minute hike along a footpath from Gerolimena Bay. It offers a spectacular vantage point over the Saronic Gulf and the Methana Peninsula, making it a perfect spot to pause, take in the beauty, and reflect on the history that surrounds you.
