Omalos Poria Loop Trail

Description
14 mile loop around delicious Omalos with 2,800ft of elevation gain, surrounded by the Lefka Ori

The route
Starting from Omalos village we ran down the plateau towards Samaria Gorge, keeping to the dirt road passing an abundance of wild flowers

Before getting to the gorge entrance we make our way up to Kallergi refuge where we were rewarded with stunning views overlooking the gorge, surrounded by the White Mountains

We continue up to Poria and then turn left to loop around, keeping on the dirt road running through the peaks

Here we do a bit of scrambling for the first few steps as we make our way into the valley. This mile is the most technical and steep in places with some loose rock but passable.

Then we pop out onto the main road from Chania and a mile running down the road, past the bat cave to the start

Super fun and largely runnable route with spectacular views.
